Just bought a 336RC. Looks to me to be in pretty good shape. According to the seller it was made in 1951 and has Ballard rifling. I blame you guys here. I was just fine on the 32-40, 38-55 forum and then I had to start reading some of the 336 posts. I think I am in trouble. If I can just make sure to NOT read the 444 and 45-70 and 308/338ME and the 450 and the 1894 posts... Uh Oh.

Thanks for posting the receiver top pic Plumber. I'm pretty new to the Marlin bug and am learning more all the time so I was wondering what is the significance of the waffle top to the plain top? Was it a model change or an option?

It was a model change in 1951.

Plumber you are right about the waiting thing. I just sent the check off yesterday and after the post office, stopped at my home away from home and bought dies, 100 rounds of brass, and the only bullets they had which were 160gr FTX. Loaded 50 rounds last night. Now what?

Thanks for the link. BTW that is a very nice 30-30. You have some real history there. I still have my first deer rifle a 270 I bought when I was 15. That was 46 years ago. Thanks for the help here.
