Today! This was at 75 yards with my 1980 1894 357. Hornady 180 grain XTP with a max dose of Lil Gun.That is 7 shots. These were recovered just on the other side of the target. I think I will load another 10 and see if I get similar results, if I do then it will be time to do a couple hundred and be GTG for a while.

Good group! I am using lil gun for my jacketed loads in .45LC in an 1894. I use true blue for plinking cast loads but the lil gun has been good to me behind 250 gr jacketed HPs. I’ve been lucky enough to see it on the shelf at the LGS every time I go because most (as in the gents that have only recently started reloading only because of scarcity) don’t typically think of this shotgun powder as a good powder for magnum loads.

Great shooting! I'm assuming your shooting from a bench.
If not than your Lukas McCain!

I am NO Lucas McCain. Yes from a bench. I was doing load development for the 180’s and lil Gun started at 13 grains. I loaded 10 more lastnight to be tested Tuesday. I cast my own, I have hoarded, lead alloy, gas checks, powder, primers, and 22’s since the first Obama term but got caught flat footed on these 180 XTP. Need a couple more boxes to make me happy. I have a custom 35remi that shoots as good, as my truck gun right now.

Pretty good for a lever gun? Heck a 7 shot group that size, with a pistol caliber at that range, is great for any gun that's not built from the ground up as a target weapon.

That is some great shooting. My CSBL really likes those XTP bullets. Do you have access to a chronograph? I wonder what your velocity is.

I do have a chronograph and Tomorrow (weather depending) I will launch a couple over it. It felt semi stout. I will also do the water bottle test tomorrow and see what the effects are. Loaded ten rounds five for group three for chronograph and two for water bottles

what do you mean, pretty good for a lever gun! some of the most accurate rifles i ever had were lever guns. i have had 99 savages that were stone cold tack drivers! i had a 444 marlin that would shoot one big hole at 90yds.

I'll be watching for tomorrow's report. One of the next .357 loads I'll be working up for my 1894c is the 180xtp and l'il gun. Perfect timing here!

Which primers were you using?
