Has anyone tried the Weaver Scout Scope Mount? The base looks the same dimensions as the XS scout mount.

I just picked up a Nikon Omega bdc-250 1.65 X 5 X 36 scope with a constant 5" eye relief for only $99 (regular prices are in the $240 range). It's a muzzleloader scope, but should work fine for the 1895 since both throw big hairy bullets and is designed for heavy 3 pellet charges. I lined up the scope with my rifle and it will be just in front of my Williams FP sight.

I'd like to see a pic of your setup once you get it going. I too have an Omega which is on a Ruger No. 1 in .308 Winchester. I bought it new for just under $200 on ebay but yours was a much better deal.

I never knew they made one either.....the one thing I can see that I like about the XS better is the machined dovetail
for mounting the rear ghost ring sight.

If you go to nikon's website and click on the right corner you can match that scope with any load and pick your zero.

I went with the tried and true XS. Here's what the setup looks like. I'll probably sight it in this weekend. I pulled it up to my shoulder and was all smiles.

Weaver just came out with a new 4X scout scope too. I saw one featured in an article on the Ruger scout rifle. I think it was listed around $255.00.
