Wanted: Marlin Model 99 M1 or Model 989 M2 Rear Sight.

I came across a vgc Marlin Model 989 M2 complete with leather sling and clip. Along the way I picked up an extra clip (plastic 15 round). The only thing it is missing is the rear sight. I've been told it is the same rear sight for the Marlin Model 99 M1 or Model 989 M2. I don't know if it was used on other models or not.

If someone has one, I would gladly give it a good home and pay freight and reasonable fee. If you only have a loaner, I am a pretty good machinist and think I could make do withit as a pattern and return it to you.

Thanks in advance for any help, assistance and/or direction.

Sorry I can't help.I see them on Ebay now and then, usually go for $50-75.00.There are some aftermarket sights made to clamp onto grooved receivers, maybe someone will post a link.Third option would be to remove the handguard and install standard 3/8 dovetail sight in the slot hidden under the wood. But you would have to find a model 75 style barrel band.

Heres one but be ready to pay for it, because like mudpuppy said the bids usually go prudy high.

I know of a company working on making those sights as Reproductions,
they are currently in legal discussions to make sure they can do it w/out issues with Marlin
as far as advertising them goes.

There will also be a similarly designed peep, which is currently going thru Patents...
has slightly talled wings to pretect the peep and finger-click adjusters :)

Probably be out next year...but I'm hoping for XMAS....

Looks like the 99M1 sight on Ebay went for $64.00 plus $2.50 S&H.A man could buy a pretty nice scope for that.I suppose the "not -so-old" Marlins are becoming more and more sought after in original configuration. If I had an M1 or M2 without the proper sight,I would have been right there bidding too.
Hay nuke submariner.
I think I have one off my 989 M2.
I will look.
When I find it I will let you know..

I too need a 99 M1 rear sight, can't find one. I tried Numrich and they sold me parts which I can't figure out how they are supposed to go together. I would like an original anyway. I noticed the receiver is tapped on the side for some sort of peep sight, but they seemed to actually come with a top mounted sight. Anyone have access to the original?

Thanks in advance for any help, assistance and/or direction.
I just used the "Buy Now" button on Gun Broker to buy a 99M1 rear sight for $100 plus $4 shipping.
Kind of crazy ain't it ? LOL! But , they are dandy little carbines and you will enjoy it . I lucked into a sight for mine a couple wks ago at a funshow , I had to sell a good knife to get mine but I figure it was worth it to have the rifle complete, enjoy . :)

DANG!, so the rear sight is two thirds the value of the rifle?!!, I only gave $150 for the whole rifle, with the rear sight and the optional squirle engraving in the stock.
I ran across another plastic banana clip for a Marlin 70HC that happened to fit my Marlin 989M2. I bought it for $25.00, but found it to have a small crack at corner of the mouth where bullets feed making it inoperable for proper function. The seller brought it to my attention prior to me paying, so I wasn't comfortable returning it.

I couldn't figure how to fix it properly, so for now it is just for looks. I am willing to pass it on to someone who thinks they can fix it. A guy on here earlier this year gave me the sight I very much needed and I want to attempt to repay part of my karmatic debt, so I would like to give this one to a good home as long as you think you could make it work for your purposes.

You are lucky to find a complete rifle. Mine came with a scope on it so I was able to shoot it but every time I took it out I told myself that I would buy the first rear sight I found. To be honest , I looked for a sight at 5 gun shows from Houston to Tyler and never found one.
ME, me, me!!! Pick me!

;D

I'd be interested in the mag, if still available. I might try to mold a replacement piece.

Magazine taken pending shipping address. Thanks J!

PS: I am also looking for a steel one in large capacity that works on the 989M2 without issues, if someone has an extra or one they no longer need, I would gladly give it a good home and pay freight and reasonable fee.
