I have a Marlin 883ss that I am having problems getting the scope to stay put.
It keeps wanting to move forward.
I am mounting to the 3/8 grooved rail, but I am wondering if a better option would be to put regular Weaver mounts on top of the receiver.
Any suggestions appreciated.

The Leapers Air Gun mount is very popular and well regarded. It uses set screws to help keep it in place.

Diversified Innovative Products also makes a nice Picatinny style mount.

I used red loktite in the dovetail on my 7000T to keep them from moving.................

Blue Locktite would be better if you ever want to remove it.

The red won't move and if you hit it for a couple of seconds with one of them torch lighters, it'll come off.

+2 for the Leapers mount. Either the one or two piece types work well. I have the two piece mounts and they cured the same problem on my 795s.
