My brother has a large - about 4 feet tall and weighs like 32 pounds - brass shell casing. Dated 1919 I think.

Any idea of a value?

(I think he still wants to sell it.)
Thanks!

More info about the cartridge is needed to make any guess. Proper measurements of lenght and case mouth diameter, base diameter, base thickness, all lettering on the cartridge head and photos, lots of good photos. Otherwise, it`s only a guess in the dark.
Brass scrap is about $3.25 lb now. Cartridge collector value is another story, may be a bit more or equal.

$3.25?!?!

It's only $1.85 around here in Ohio.

Will try to get more info for you. He's kind of slow in the e-mail department. Snail mail is sometimes faster!

Got an e-mail from my brother - no photos.

He said "41 1/4" tall, 7" round at top, 8" round at bottom
around primer hole [primer not there] has a "2" at top, bottom says sp255
apr 1918 -stamped around hole says patronefabrik karlsruhe"

He also posted this link: http://www.kaisersbunker.com/feldgrau/equipment/fge55.htm

I know it needs polished and has some dings, but he said overall good shape.
Hope this helps!

If anybody is interested send me an offer and I will forward it to him and such. I'm sure he'd ship it.
