i am very happy with triple 7 in the ol vet, 2-1/2" at 100yds, and couldn't help bragging about her this morning.....i'm not much of a deer hunter, but this old rifle(made around 1871!) would still put the meat on the table after 133 years!
i haven't chrono'd them yet.....but the 330gr bullets smack the targets with real authority! and, shooting point of aim, w/o any sight mods! all i can say is WOW  to shoot something that old, it is really a neat thing!

Good looking target Kaintuck! Looks like it's plenty accurate for hunting. Nice looking gun too. The Vetterli's are very unique rifles. Sure no mistaking them for much else!

kaintuck,

With the 777 you're using, I would estimate your velocity in the 1350 range. The 10.4X47R is in that vicinity with a similar bullet. Not a bad target at all! :D SW
