I have an unfired Winchester 1885 hunter in .223 that I am thinking about trading. I have been offered a like new Marlin 336 in 38-55, 2-cavity ranch dog mold, cowboy dies and 1000 gas checks. Gun has never been hunted with and has been fired about 50 rds. What do ya'll think?

I don't know much about the gun you have, but that 38/55 sounds SWEET. I'd do it. Rifles in .223 are pretty abundant. 8)

I would do as well. Your 1885 might be worth a little more, but you are getting what amounts to a rifle that was made in low numbers, now gone through ownership change that will make it even more desirable. Choice is yours, but I would be all over it. DP
