I took the XL7 270 to the range today. The main range was closed because of a match, so I had to use the 100 meter range. I was trying out several new bullet and powder combinations with IMR 4831 and IMR 4350. Bullets included Hornady 130gr SP, Sierra 130gr
SPBT, Berger VLD130gr SPBT, & Sierra 140gr HP.
Best group was with the Hornady 130gr SP with 55gr of IMR 4350. The Hornady 130gr SP is a flat base bullet. For some reason this rifle prefers them to the boat tail bullets. Smallest group was a little over 1/2" for 3 shots. I think I have a bullet combination I can work with. All in all a good day at the range.

I have a 22-250 like that. It's groups are 50% smaller with flat based bullets compared to boattails.

A friend just added a 270 X7 to his Marlin harem and wanted to reload too. Rocky Mountain Reloaders has Fed Fusion PULLS in 130gr.

Surfing a bit has testimonies of loading these up with 55gr of imr4350 and doing 3000fps +

Hoping to help get it sighted in Monday. Nothing like helping a buddy spend his money!
