Hornady Refuses To Sell To New York Agencies After Comptroller Threatens Banks Over Gun Business? Concealed Nation

Hornady Refuses To Sell To New York Agencies After Comptroller Threatens Banks Over Gun Business
We recently noted the thinly-veiled threat that New York State Comptroller Thomas J. DiNapoli made when he sent a friendly letter to most of the nation’s largest financial institutions. In it, he hinted – wink, wink – that it could be bad for their business if they continue to facilitate transactions that involve firearms and related products.
DiNapoli suggested that these companies should consider whether gun transactions should be classified with restricted high-risk purchases like pornography, illicit drugs, and crypto-currencies. “If gun violence continues unabated in society,” he wrote, “public outcry … may grow and create significant financial risk for the company.”

DiNapoli happens to control over $200 billion in New York state pension funds. And gosh, it’d be a real shame to lose some of that juicy business just because a bank happens to also process credit card transactions for, say, Brownells, Midway USA or your local gun store.

The clear implication of DiNapoi’s letter wasn’t lost on its recipients at Visa, MasterCard, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, American Express, Discover Financial Services, and others.

We weren’t the only ones who were gobsmacked by the Empire State’s brazen strong-arm tactics. Nebraska-based Hornady Manufacturing, makers of premium ammunition like Critical Defense, Critical Duty and Superformance Match, among others, has decided that after that disgusting display, they won’t be doing any business with the state’s law enforcement agencies.

They issued the following press release earlier this week.
Today, the State of New York did one of the most despicable acts ever perpetrated by any state by asking New York banks, financial institutions, and insurance companies to stop doing business with the gun and ammo industry.

While it may not make a difference to New York, Hornady will not knowingly allow our ammunition to be sold to the State of NY or any NY agencies. Their actions are a blatant and disgusting abuse of office and we won’t be associated with a government that acts like that. They should be ashamed.
-Steve Hornady, president of Hornady Manufacturing Company

What would happen if more ammo manufacturers, accessory makers, and even gun companies decided that they choose not to aid and abet this kind of intimidation by one of their large government customers?

Good for Hornady!:tee:

I think it's time for Chicago, NYC, a good chunk of California, and unfortunately part of my state SHOULD succeed and found their own liberal agenda nation.

Lets see how long they last before being invaded, conquered and subjugated by some 3rd rate country with stones. They'll be begging to be rescued and return to the fold.

They believe only the government should be armed. Bill of Rights, what's that? Free speech is already being impinged along with the 2nd, the 4th.... What the---

I liked your post because it is important. I HATE the content.

Imagine if all of the companies associated with the gun and ammo manufacturing industry refused to sell to any non-2a supporting state. That would certainly get the attention of those who need secret service protection and need to keep the police force supplied. The only down side could be if the government took over manufacturing their own ammo vice using defense contractors. Could defense contractors put up a stand against states like California, New York, Massachusetts, and Illinois?

The precursor to war is always economic sanctions. Clearly, the NYS comptroller has declared war and Hornady did the right thing by cutting off the ammo supply to the enemy. It would be nice if other ammo makers followed suit.

Maybe it is time to start writing some letters to Remington, Winchester, Federal, Speer and CCI indicating our strong support of Hornady's move and suggest they do the same if they wish to enjoy the same support and appreciation. It's time to put up or shut up. Battle lines are being drawn and we need to gently push our suppliers onto the high ground.

Okay, here is my "form letter" that I sent to Federal, Winchester, CCI and Remington.

Dear ********

As you have surely heard by now, Hornady has made a bold decision to stop selling ammo to New York State agencies in response to the state Comptrollers treacherous move to undermine the Second Amendment.

I strongly support Hornady and admire them for taking a firm stance in defending the rights of Americans and corporations to conduct lawful commerce. Appreciation and support among sportsmen and women is widespread, the story about Hornady's decision has gone viral. Many of us are showing our appreciation by putting Hornady at the front of the line for all future ammo purchases.

As a long time consumer of your products, I hope you will follow Hornady's excellent example and also refuse to do business with government agencies that are hostile to the Constitution and lawful commerce.

Millions of shooting sports folks are paying close attention to who is standing up to the sneaky bullies and who is kowtowing to them. I hope you will also have the courage to stand against this wave of underhanded tactics.

Sincerely

XXXXX XXXXXXX

Seems a shame to give so much publicity to some gutless, underhanded schmuck sitting in his ivory tower, but when a person in such a position uses his public office to push a personal agenda we must speak out. Sort of like pointing out a venomous reptile before someone steps on it.

The agenda may appeal to his personal beliefs, but the agenda is not his alone. He is but just one cog in a much bigger machine that must be dismantled.
