I firmly believe that Officer and National Guard Lieutenant Cody Holte should be awarded the Soldier's Medal for his actions that led to his death. I personally know a National Guard soldier who was serving as a volunteer fire fighter, who risked his life to save a victim in a house fire, and his National Guard unit put him in for the Soldier's Medal, and it was approved. It's kind of like a non-combat Medal of Honor.

If anyone out there has connections with the North Dakota National Guard and/or the Grand Forks LE community, I strongly urge you to try to get Cody Holte's National Guard chain of command to consider him for the Soldier's Medal. It doesn't matter that he wasn't on duty as a soldier at the time of his actions.

Below is a link with some information about the Soldier's Medal, and why I firmly believe he earned it.
