There's no furnace at my house, no little dial on the wall. If I want to keep my self warm, it takes about 30 Toyota loads to make it through from September to June. Since Jewel died,I am responsible for all the wood, not many folks want to help. My neighbor Mike brought me some uncut logs last year, it was a long cold Winter, and he was worried I might freeze. All Summer I shoot targets, lay around, and do as little as possible, because on September 1st, the exercise program starts up again. I'm 70, not all the way dead. Yet.

At 51 I'm not really old, but I have noticed that I that I seem to be slowing down a little.
One activity I enjoy is doing habitat work on the family property to benefit wildlife.
Yesterday I created a 1/4 acre clear-cut with brushpiles.
Earned my supper for sure.

You'd have cleared a half acre if you were running a Husky.

I am old enough to retire but just can't seem to do it.
I do construction and actually enjoy going to work.
I am a little slower than I was years ago but I make less mistakes to make up for it.

That cutting firewood can be tough work.
The house I grew up in was heated by a wood burning stove. We never had a furnace in it.
When I got my first house I heated it with a wood burning stove for 25 years or so.
I cut firewood every day of my life back then.
Now days I flip the thermostat when I want heat.

I don't ride bicycles anymore either . I quit riding them when I found out they made bikes with engines.
The last bike I rode had a banana seat , angle wing handle bars , a sissy bar and a fat slick tire on the back.
I think all yours needs is some tires and a good greasing up.
You don't need brakes they will just slow you down.
Besides at your age you need all the excitement you can get.

I don't exercise the way I should...however, I do enjoy biking, kayaking, and hiking. I just need to make more time to do it. I should make it a more regular activity than I do.

I get to relax in the winter months, but during good weather there is always something to do around the place. Got all the firewood done this spring, our only heat. Just finished staining the house and garage/shop. They took 26 gallons of stain, the trim only a half gallon, but took as long to apply it as it did to stain. Now replacing all the gutters and moving the ladder a hundred times a day and going up and down is plenty of exercise. Finished the rebuild on the 8n tractor last month, sleeves, rings bearings, complete new valve train and a new clutch. Maybe I will take a day or two off after the gutters are done. Got another tractor that needs to have the PTO clutch replaced, but will work on it when it is a little cooler.
