The OFFICIAL up to date 'Postal Match' scoreboard!!!

I myself, have never participated in the postal match and must admit I don't know much about it?
...but, I am willing to accept their challenge and hope I can count on the rest of you to join in to represent OUR team!!!

We have a ringer,
Team member Rowdy is the current Marlin Owner's Postal match champion!!!! 8)
Maybe he can help us out and give us some tips!!!

I need help in many ways with this challenge.
1. Can someone please post here on this thread explaining the rules and how it works for me and others not fimiliar with the competiton.
2. I'm rather busy with work and all, is anyone on the team interested in heading this activity?

Should this be made a sticky?

Re: Team .45/70!!! We've been called out!!! It's a TEAM vs. TEAM shootout!!!

Wish I could help Mainecat, but I can't bench shoot to save my life, blind as a bat. Just call me pvt. Osborne. I am much better at shooting off hand and probably better with my 1894 than with 45/70. Nope, don't plan on joining the other team (s).

Mainecat,

I'm much older than I was when I shot in competition with the army and the police dept., but I'll load up my best rounds and get my stubby Guide Gun ready to go. This old Ranger will answer the call to duty again, but this time for Team 45-70 ;D

Re: Team .45/70!!! We've been called out!!! It's a TEAM vs. TEAM shootout!!!

Me a “ringer” nahh :D I just shoot enough that sooner or later I’m bound to get a lucky target… :)

Scott, I can help with the Team 45/70 challenge by team 1894 – even though I consider it ---- a very small challenge, one hardly worthy of using a “Big Boy Gun”, like the 45/70… :D :D :D

Rules are simple – 5 shot groups shot from the bench…Iron sights at 50yds, scopes from 100yds.
The person who puts all their shots closest to the center – wins…
Pasted from big medicines rules –

Rules:

This will be a fun match, no prizes, just the rights to dog your fellow members. There will be a centerfire match for both open sights and scopes. Open sights shot at 50 yards and scoped rifle at 100. And a rimfire match for open sights and scoped rifles. Open sights shot at 25 yards and scoped rifles shot at 50 yards. You can shoot from a bench using a front and rear rest if you like.

This is intended to be a hunting rifle match so what ever scope you use on your rifle is what you use.

This will be a levergun only match. A levergun for the purpose of this match is a magazine fed levergun. So Marlin, Winchester, Savage, Browning, Rossi, ect are all included, get them out of the safe and shoot them.

Targets, I will post the link to the target it is a free target so shoot as much as you like. You will be shooting 5 shot groups. I will score the target from the center of the target to the edge of the farthest hole and subtract 1/2 the bullet dia. This will standard for the cal, so if you shoot an oversize bullet you still only get the standard subtraction. On the front of target some where you will need the following information. Targets must be unaltered, just a target with 5 bullet holes and the information below.

Re: Team .45/70!!! We've been called out!!! It's a TEAM vs. TEAM shootout!!!

I just woke up to a challange! Looks like i'll only be in the scoped 100 yard division this year. I downscaled my collection a bit!

I just sent Mainecat a PM about this. There doesn't seem to be anything to handle here for us. Seems it's the yearly postal match, the rules and targets are pretty much set in stone.

Now 1895Gunner has challenged all of the teams! Hmmm there will probably be a bit more participation this year. I don't know how those pistol cartridges will compete at 100 yards, but we shall see! ::)

Any help needed count me in! ;)

Re: Team .45/70!!! We've been called out!!! It's a TEAM vs. TEAM shootout!!!

Thank you lever addict!

Here's a list of the offical Teams being challenged..

Team 1894
Team .444
Team .35 rem
Team .45/70
Team .450
Team .30/30
Team Marlin Express (Just made official yesterday)

If I read the rules right, members of multiple teams can participate in the multiple calibers..
Personally,
I wouldn't waste the lead shooting anything other than my .45/70!!! :-*

What we need to know is, how does 1895Gunner plan to do a Team Score – so as to declare a Team Winner.. ??

Is this match shot from our local range and targets mailed via postal?

Rowdy,

If you don't mind a partner, I'll lend a hand in the iron sight department. I only have that old Millett 100 series on the rear, but the little GG is shooting well with it. Loads are good to go as well.

I sent 1895Gunner (Team 1894 Captain) a pm..

1. Team .45/70 has accepted their challenge!!!

2. I gave him the link to this thread and asked him if he could answer some of the questions that have been posted here.

Oh yeah,
I also fore warned him about some of the trash talk he might find on here and told him that it is all in good fun!!! ;)

Thanks for stepping up, sounds good. :)

Rowdy,

Roger that! I'll give it my best to punch close and tight. And I really have to agree on another thing too..... Trail Boss does rule!

Altighty then, we've got two of us old iron sighters up to the line. The scope gunners are falling in. Looks good from this point. Let's burn some powder.....

I see you talking but all I’m hearing are these little clicks and buzzes. :p ;D ;D

Hey dude let me ask ya – what is your definition of a “Team” for this competition.
Someone who’s on the team roster and shoots the correctly flavored rifle,,,Or someone who just wants to shoot for the “Team”…And how many shooters does a team make? 2 or 5 or 20 or ??

And scoring – how many Team shooters scores are you planning to use to judge a Winner??
:)
