I picked up a Marlin Golden 39-A today at a gun show. The serial
number is T 51XX. Am I correct that this rifle was made in 1949?
What does the T prefix mean? Thank you

It was made in 1960. The "T" has no significance just the letter in the alphabet used to signify the year. the year 1949 is signified by the letter "F".
