i handload and i know of hodgon's superformance. a load of superformance and a 120gr nosler bt in my 6.5 creedmoor(16 1/4" mgm barrel) gets me .3" at 100 yards.
my 20 vartarg(16 1/4" mgm barrel) is going to load either h4198 or rel 7, both powders i plan on using for my 444 marlin in tc encore.
what exactly is hornady's superformance? i plan on using a 265gr hornady fp, but what powder is in hornady's superformance factory load?
its been over 20 years since i shot a factory load.

thanks for your help!!!

Hornady makes a custom powder blend for each cartridge. Hodgdon does offer a powder called Superperformance, but it is not the same powder that is in the 444 Superperformance ammo. Not even close. So the powder found in the 444 Superperformance ammo is not available to consumers. Hodgdon puts out another powder called Leverevolutlion powder, but again, it is not the same powder that is in the 444 Leverevolution case.

Hey T,

My rifle mechanic swears by Rx7, for his .444.

H 4198 is a stellar performer in the 45/70. (should work well in the .444)

Later, Mark

my encore will be a 444 marlin with a 21" mgm barrel, likely with a bellm muzzle brake. i have powders such as h4198, rel 7, and h322. brass is 200 remingtons, and bullets are 2 boxes of 265 hornady flat points. the only thing i need is mgm to make the barrel. its not mgm's fault, they just need the barrel blank.
i'm definitly going to get another encore frame. a 6.5 creedmoor, 20 vartarg, 50 cal inline, and two soon to be a 444 and a 22-250 ai.
not too shabby for a stroke abled guy!!!
