Hey guys,

Has anyone experimented with either of these new powders from Hodgdon in their 44s? I can't seem to find any data posted. Before I go ahead and give them a call, I wanted to check if anyone here had some experience with it.

I dont know about the powders but I have used the factory cartridges and they give a lot tighter groups than anything else I have shot.

GB45
i have run the lever revolution bullets and the best combination i have found is the 225flex tip over some h110 . the lever revolution powder just has not been available around here to mess with. love to hear what you come up with.
The powders are meant for bottleneck rifle cartridges. Though you can shoot the 44 from a rifle, it uses pistol powders, which are faster. They are virtually caliber specific, and all told seem to have about 8 powders that Hornady uses. They've reproduced only 2 for our consumption, neither of which were used in the 44 or 357. Those that got left out of the mix (338MX etc., and grumbling. The leverevolution powder is just one step slower than BL-C2, which is one of the powders used to get the most bang for your buck in the 30-30 and 308MX. The leverevolution sold is best used in those two. In other words, they are for very specific purposes rather than the broad range you can use 2400 or Varget for instance.
You meant they use pistol powders which are faster I think no David? I havent tried the superformance stuff yet but might when I need more powder if its there. I'm pretty content with BLc2 & H335 though.
Of course. :eek: ::) :-[

Its been corrected. A world of difference between those two powders (sold) and what is placed in pistol powders.

Very true, and if we need to buy a special powder for each caliber then 100 fps isn't worth it to me.

Yep. I'm pretty happy with 2400 and Unique anyway.
