I just got done with putting my daughters nutmeg thumbhole stock on her 60, I just used 6 coats of tru-oil and it is beautiful- we love it. The problem is that it makes my 60 with a walnut thumbhole from the last year look a little to light in color. I would like to strip off the tru oil and add a walnut stain to darken it and then tru-oil again. What strippers would you recomend for this?

Instead of stripping it, try adding some walnut stain (oil based) to a little Tru-oil and then applying that over what you have. You will probably have to remove any wax that you may have on the stock. I mixed some Min-wax stain in with Birchwood Casey Tru-oil, worked well with no separation between the two. Mr fixit
