I can't believe what these things are bringing these days - and I'd love to know more about that front sight......almost looks like a homebrew.

Yes I did buy the long barreled Marlin. I have a weakness for these long
barrels. I have not received it yet so when I get it I can examine it
more closely. Do any of the forum members have any info on this sight
or know who the maker is? All I know is that sight has to extremely rare!
I do know with the long barreled guns because of the distance from the
rear barrel sight to the front sight you need a taller sight otherwise you
would not have any accuracy. In the case of this gun because there is a blank
in the rear dovetail & a tang sight is used instead I would imagine it was
special ordered with this front sight. If anybody can help with IDing this
sight let us know. It is going to be fun shooting that longtom!

I looked through some old sight catalogs I have for Lyman, Marbles and King sights. The filler blank appears to be a King, as they were the only one to make a fancy blank of that style. Hoped I might find the front sight to be a King also, but it wasn't.
I also checked through Nick Strobel's book, but nothing there either. I'll check some other sources, and try to email Nick to see if he's got any ideas too.

front sight

i thought i knew sights, but never have i seen something like that; it sure looks like a period sight. i have some large plastic boxes [as in large fishing tackle sized] filled with sights i've accumulated for years, and yet have nothing even remotely like that one. i will try to research it some more.
