I have been looking for an older 1895 straight grip no checkering no CBS 45-70 for a while now, with no luck.
I have seen a couple of "new Marlins" that were sharp fit and finish good action slick.
My question should I keep looking or just give up and by a new one...

The JM's will hold their value better for sure, buy if you don't mind owning a remlin then I would buy one of those new Marlins and not look back.

1022,
If it were me, which it obviously isn't, I would hold out for what you want, unless you're in a terrible hurry. Life is too short to settle for spending money on anything which is less than what you want just because it's available. It has been my experience, that as soon as I settle for less, I always regret it, and wish I had opted to get that which I REALLY wanted. Be patient, what you want will come around when you least expect it. Just my two cents.
