I have a friend who is in possession of a Stevens rifle and wants to find out more about it, and its value. This is the information I received from him. Thought some of you knowledgable folks might be able to shed some light on things or tell us where to go to find out information. Thanks, RC 480
The gun came into his possession via his wife's father, sometime in the early 1920s or 30s. I believe it is a single shot, bolt action. There doesn't appear to be any serial number....other than the engraved 246 noted.

"Behind the trigger assembly the number 246 is engraved.

On the barrel the following: J. Stevens A & T. Co.
Chicopee Falls, Mass. USA Pat. APR 1794

22 Long Rifle"

That's sure gonna make it hard to identify, with so little info. Stevens bolt action rifles (during that time period) were built by Savage, as Savage bought Stevens in the 1920's. The description sounds like the old model #3 Savage/Stevens, but without more info I'm not positive.

If you could post a few pictures I'm sure someone here could help identify it for you.modoc
