I am thinking of buying the stainless .243 XS7, enjoy my blue .308XS7 but reloading for .243 will cut the price of powder and bullets in half, gotta go cheap. Whats the tales of the Stainless models, anybody here have one, any pictures?

I don't know how much you'll save going to a 243. the powder charges are similar and the deer bullets are similar in price. When you factor in the low cost 308 ammo available from Russia and Europe, I think the 308 win save you money.

Sure ain't no savings to be had there, hadn't checked it out! Looks like .223Rem would be it, The Stevens 200 in blue .223 and switch to a boyds stock. Plus dies, brass and components, that would buy alotta .308 powder and bullets ::) Have to study on it a while.

Marlin XS7 7mm-08 Stainless
Boyd's stock
Vortex Viper scope
Harris 9"-13" bipod w/podlock

10 pounds on my handy dandy home scales

I have a Remington 700 CDL 7mm-08 (blue) in factory wood stock with same setup as the Marlin. It also weighs 10 pounds

good Lord  10 pounds? Why would you want to carry a gun that heavy when the factory gun is under 7.5pounds with a scope on it? ???
I carried my 12 pound Sako and + 70 pound backpack 2 weeks in Northern Sweden... It´s not really that heavy when you get used to it. First 3 days were killing me but after that I didn't even feel the weight of the rifle anymore... It´s just matter of getting accustomed to.

GOD bless you. ;)

I personally see no reason to carry more weight than needed. Heavy gun are slow to get on target and have a way of making the hunter slower too. I do more walking than sitting and often have to drag my critters over hill n dale so every pound saved on the gun is another pound I can drag.
