I had no idea that the ported Guide Gun came in stainless. If anyone has any info like how many made or how long or what years please let me know. I purchased one today LNIB condition that dates to 2002.

After buying my gun I was asked 9 times if I would sell it! ;D

Marlin Owner member Dalgo also picked up a blue and walnut ported 1895 dating to 1999 also LNIB condition!

Dalgos gun was fondled by two different people while he was filling out the paper work! I stopped them dead in their tracks! ;D

We had a field day at the gun show today! ;D 8)

The original gs's were ported just the same as the blued, can't remember what year they stopped porting..
Ported 1895gs made from 2001-2005 maybe?? ???

I purchased a GS Ported SS rifle as soon as they were released in early 2001.I believe the porting was discontinued during the second production year(2002) I sold my GS in 2005 as I didnt care much for the loudness of the porting. To each there own.I did love the looks of it in SS.
Congrats on a sweet lookin rifle!

Lou,

I thought they only ported the GS at the factory for the first year production run......I was thinking pretty much on the same lines as levergunz as far as dates go.

My 1895GS is dated 2002 and it's non ported.

I looked thru my records and found my 2001(99xxxxx) ported SS GS was purchased 2-12-02.So much for memory.I'd still swear it was purchased as soon as released and only first year/year and a half production was ported.Porting was dropped due to complaints of noise to the shooter as I recall. Most of these didnt seem to end up in Alaska for Griz hunting and do you need porting for deer hunting?
