I want to put a front sling swivel on my octagon barrel 1895. I can get a forearm tip with sling swivel stud from a standard 1895. Will the octagon barrel pose a problem for mounting this? Is there another way of attaching a sling swivel to the front? There already is a stud in the stock.
Thanks,

The forend cap for the standard 1895 is made for the round barrel. This can, however, be fitted to the octagon barrel by filing and rebluing. Better yet, contact Marlin directly. I believe they have octagon barrel forend caps with sling swivel studs available on request.

You could also buy a threaded stud from Michaels of Oregon, and simply drill and tap a hole in your cap.
