There is a thread in the 336 Forum about people showing off their 336's. I'd like to see everyone's 444's and the game you have taken with them. I'd especially like to see game larger than deer, but anything will be great. Since I haven't used mine to hunt with yet, all I have is a picture of the gun.

Mine is pretty plain, a 1992 444SS, basically as it came from the factory, topped with a 2-7 X 32 scope. I want to see how you all have customized your guns.

Mine's a .308 win. I bought it in 1986 in Germany when I was stationed there at local Rod & Gun club and brought it back. I mounted a Redfield 4-12X scope on it. I LOVE that rifle. ;D
I brought home this sweety last Thursday. What a cannon this thing is! It's a 1975 444s with added recoil pad (thankfully) and is missing the decorative little round piece on the bottom of the stock. The rear sight is not original. I think I got a pretty good deal at $200. I LOVE this gun!

Those are all nice looking guns. As far as the recoil goes, I think the felt recoil of the 444 is less than my 30-06's. I shot 40 rounds from the bench yesterday and it didn't even make my shoulder sore. If I shoot 40 rounds from the 30-06's my shoulder will be sore the next day, and sometimes bruised. The 444 is a big P-U-S-H.
This can't be all the .444's ? Show us a picture :)
Dirty Thirty, I believe DRC's loop is a "mid size".
I think that's what Marlin 444 has on his "Back Betty" (my kinda gun by the way!)

Here's their contact info. Web site is still under construction but the contact pafe is complete. Price list is on page "Product 2".

I think Midway carries their stuff too.
Wild West Guns makes a BIG loop, but it's a little too big for my taste.
Thanks for the links, I need a big loop for hunting but I won't pay what Mid-way and DRC ask! Is there a loop out there for us tight-wads? ;D Now back to topic ;)

Can I ask what the finish is on your gun?
I assume the stock is bed liner.

No problem, I had two different Smiths handle the refinish jobs -

1. Wood - Fella in GA scraped the varnish standard wood stocks and put 20 coats of Flat Black Grill coat paint on it, spray, dry and repeat 20x it gave the wood a deep rich almost tacky feel... Most folks that handle it think it is a Synthetic but it is not, it is the factory wood that has been refinished...

2. Metal - I anquished over the refinish of the metal - Blue or not re-Blue... So I went with a Charcoal Gray Parkerized job from a fella here in Tuscaloosa; he did a fabulous job from tip to toe... The contrast in the Flat Colors are amazing...

Here is a couple better pics taht show the contrast -

The scope is in the Granite Black color that the Simmons Whitetail Classics have on them and it is a Spot On match to the Flat Black Grill paint osed on the wood...

It's a sweet looking and shooting gun, I do not do much range shooting; I am a Deer, Bear and Hog Hunter so I will find a round that suits my needs (Remington .240 FNSP's) - Range my gun(s) with a 1/2 or so boxes of ammo and park the rifle until just before season; take it back out to the range for a pre-season Tune Up and I am good to go!!!

Happy Hunting!

Ron
