So I love my 1895 GS, but I have been thinking about adding another Marlin to my stable. The .450 Marlin has peaked my interest but today at an LGS there was a JM stamped .444 for 500 bucks!!! Any opinions?

Opinion its probably gone a triple 4 in my area at 500 is only seen one at a time you see it buy it and don't see it again.

Will have pics in 10 days! Has some use marks on lever but other than that is in good shape including the barrel. However there is no safety on it??

Did you get the first 2 digits of the serial #?

The first 444's didn't have a crossbolt safety because they were made before it was added. Just the half cock safety...
