When I was younger everything had to be short and move fast. Now I'm older I have a preference for longer barrels. My Birmingham trade hammergun is 28" whilst my Thomas Wild S/S is 30" and my O/U Beretta is also 30 inches.
These days I like slow and steady.

I must be a dinosaur. I bought a Remington Sportsman 48 in 1975 with a full choke, 30" barrel. It's all I've ever used on ducks, pheasants, rabbits or trap.
Old saying..................Beware the man with only one gun; he probably knows how to use it!!!!!

as to the old adage about beware of the man that uses only 1 gun; i never did buy that
Unfortunately it has always seemed true to me, as I have seen many a one-gun owner outshoot the multi-gun owner, due to the fact that he has a complete trust in that single gun. Unlike the man who owns several dozen guns and isn't over familiar with any of them.
