I cut 1 1/4" from my boyd's stock. I installed a Limbsaver recoil pad and 1/8" buttstock spacer. The buttstock saver allows me to do the final adapting the recoil pad to the rifle butt after it has been cut. It requires some grinding and sanding. Grinding can be done with dremmel if no qrinding wheel is available. Of course, sanding finishes the job. A short screw will be needed to brevent the lower screw from hitting the sling stud screw. The lop after job is right about 13" with big comfy recoil pad.
A good gunsmith could do the whole job better than I did and would cost between $50-$100.
