I have a wild hair to shorten the barrel on my Marlin Semi Auto Model 60 to 18.5".
Will the slight loss in velocity or barrel pressure create any kind of cycling problems. I saw a video where a guy shortened his to match a Ruger 10-22. He ended up shortening the recoil spring thinking it was causing some jams.

I don't believe there would be any problems . The model 70,75,99,989, etc etc...even the new. 60dlx I looked at all have either 18"-19" barrels. The actions are close to identical on all of them. Instead of permanently altering your barrel, you can pick up the shorter barrels and mag tubes on ebay cheap enough ( just paid $8 for a nice glenfield 75 barrel), and swap back anytime you like.

I shortened one to around 17". Shoots fine and is quite accurate. The action cycles on the immediate pressure, unlike an AR that requires x ammount of gas dwell time to function properly. Have fun with the project.
