New to Marlin levers and hardly up to speed on what's available.
Was told by a world renowned Small Arms expert that a short bbl'd. Marlin in .44 was a Superb Home Defense rifle. You know, a "Deer Rifle" is more defendable in court than any "Black Rifle", etc.

Haven't researched much yet but need to know if used ones are actually to be found w/o ports in .44 with a short bbl.?

TIA

Marlin made a special run of 94's with 16 inch non ported in 44mag and 45 cot in 2000? or somewhere around there. i believe they made 1000 of each. ive searched for them and they are hard to come by but they are there just depends on how much you want one.

I saw a NIB specimen last weekend at a gunshow here in Lexington, NC. So there is at least one. Maybe it will be there in January at the next one. Price was $450

I bought my wife a 1894 in 44 with a straight stock. I think the barrel is 20" but it's shorter than my 18" 444P. Sweet little rifle!
