I took my 25-06 out for the first time & 1.5" groups were the norm. Checked the stock and one side was barely touching. I have shimmed mausers to get the groups to tighten so I cut up and old credit card and shimmed the XL7. Has anyone tried this before changing stocks?
I'm headed out to the range to check it out. If it works on the syn stock I'll keep it on, I like the lightness and don't have to worry about scratches. Thanks for any input. Idahojoe

The best group was .635, free floating helped a bunch. I shimmed a SA savage at the same time, it helped some but the savage has a floppy stock compared to the Marlin. I'll probably leave the factory syn. stock on the XL7, seemed to work very well. Idahojoe
