Ok I'm trying to figure out what year my 444s is. The serial number is 71 230663, it is double banded. Any help would be appreciated thanks guys.

Awesome thanks Eli I picked it up at my LGS for 450 and it looks very well kept hardly any wear on the lever I am very happy with and now I get to see how it shoots. My first triple 4 so I am pretty excited sold my 45/70 I think I will like this cartridge better for the type if hunting I do here in Oklahoma.

1971 seen the 444 go from the 24" barrel with the high combed buttstock, to the 24" barrel with the regular buttstock, to the 22" barrel to the regular buttstock, all in the same year.

I might add, you will not miss that 45-70 with the 444 replacing it. You made a wise choice. DP

I think I found a real gem here this gun has just not been used very much at all. I think that this will be my go to gun. Thanks for help guys
