I have a Ruger 77/44 that is basically a 4" gun. That's minute of deer, but I just cant stay interested in a 4" gun. I have an 1895G and a 336 that are very accurate. I handled an 1894ss in 44 magnum the other day and fell in love with it. Should I expect an 1894 to be a 2" gun? Should I dump the Ruger and get the Marlin?

IME, the Marlins are 2½ or better guns. However, much depends on ammo, shooter and sometimes sights.

I'd always pick the Marlin over the Ruger...

mine shoots a factory 240 grain winchester white box cheap ammo the best, moa at 100 yards - one inch with a burris 2.75 scout from a rest.
