I have a chance to buy one of these in 35 Rem. Are they the same as 336's? Also, the owner says that the action was made in Sweden. Does that sounds right and what the value compared to a 336 ?

My Sears mod.#45 was made by Marlin, and is the same as the 336. Not Sweden.

Yes, that would be a 1964. That being said, mine was purchased in 1962.

My JC Higgens model 45 is also Ballard rifled! I like it like that. Like it so much I reamed it to .30-30 AI. Very nice rifle. Clean walnut stock, no white line spacers or gold trigger. Mines an S prefix.

The owner is an idiot! Where in the world would he get the idea the action was made in Sweden??? Offer him $200 since he has no clue about what he has.

Finally got it for $175, but here is the wart. The owner stored it in a case for years and the barrel tip suffered( the other side is not as bad). The bore and rest of the gun is mint( complete pic on Team 35 membership thread). Would you attempt a cold blue repair or just keep it well oiled and use as is? It is a "Y" 1964 35 Rem. How do you think I did as far as price?

If you're going use the gun for hunt'n, I'd just keep it oiled. The deer will never notice it ;D

My 336CS got pitted sitting oiled in a closet for several months.... roof leaked and I didn't catch it until it was to late. It still irrates me when I look at it... at least the bore is still in good condition.
