A friend has a Sears stamped 336 in 30-30 with the normal stock scratches from hunting, with a little fading of the bluing at the muzzle - the normal wear associated with a good hunter that takes care of his rifle while still using it as a rifle.

What would be the ball park price for one?
He thinks it's a 1960's model, where can I locate the serial numbers associated with year of manufacture for Sears stamped 336's ?

The serial # system is the same for all Marlin and Marlin made rifles... What are the first 2 letters or numbers of the serial #?

It would run right around $300.00 to $350.00 around here...

Thanks for that info. If $300.00 is good for one in Bama, then I'm getting it - he wants $250.00. So I guess I have to buy a half rack to make up the difference, or I'll always hear from him "you owe me".
