I am a sight shuffler, I take the sights off and mount a scope for load development, then the scope comes off and the receiver sight goes back on, so I am always concerned about scratching the finish on the receiver. I found an answer, tape. I use electrical tape, on the temporary base. Just stick it to the scope base or sight base and trim to fit, then attach to the receiver.....the base never actually touches the receiver so no scratches. The tape may work for long term installations, too. I'll let you know in 10 years.

Great idea, Jim! I bet I have a roll or two of Scotch 33+ laying around. I'll give it a shot.

JD... I am with you on the scope for load development. My old eyes are just not good enough to compare loads with iron sights at 50yds. Thanks for the tape tip.
