Was surfing on Texas Gun Trader this morning while on the road to Kerville. (Wife was driving) Saw a post for an "older jm stamped marlin for (lets just say less than 400)". I looked at the pictures, sent the guy a text and met him to pick it up early this evening. SCORE. Super clean, has been carried a lot but not scratched up or dinged, smooth action, crisp for a 336 trigger. Action really was tight to the point of binding when I looked at it but I figured out real quick that the guy had pulled the scope mount off but still had the scope mount screws filling the holes instead of regular plugs. I got those screws out and the action feels like a well loved rifle of 41 years. Smooth like butter. I planned on slicking it up and doing what I normally do to improve the action but this one really doesn't need much love.
I'll try and get some pics up in the next few days but I am really looking forward to shooting this one.
