I am not sure if this should be posted here or in optics?Any way I was wondering what size rings to use with a Weaver v3 1-3x20mm scope?Will low rings work?Do you have to remove the rear sight? JD

I use medium rings. Rear sight is not an issue.

I used some very lows, and there was not enough room to slip the lens caps on.
I had to grind some off the mount, so they would slip on.
I used a 4x30, so a x20 should fit.

I just put a 3-9x40 Burris on my 44mag and a 3-9x40 Burris on my 30-30, used Weaver medium rings, so having a 20mm scope, you could go with low rings without any problem and shouldn't have to remove rear sight. Just make sure you have a hammer spur because eye piece doesn't leave much room to get finger to hammer.

I'm not sure what you mean by "very low"?I believe different manufactures have different sizes for there lows than other manufactures.So it might be helpful to name the manufacture when referring to low,medium and high rings. JD
