I just bought a xl7 in 270 to replace my great grandpas model 1936 lever action that I was given when I was 8 I chose the rifle because I read about it on this website and the caliber because it was reccomended so much for the texas whitetails I hunt I have only bought scopes for my heavy barrelled target rifles but dont want 20x I looked at a natchez catolog and saw a barska 3-9X50 and thought that was strong enough but dont know how good the quality of them I also looked at a redfield/leupold 3-9x40 at academy and they are as clear as the mark 4 on my custom rifle

MR-7s were too pricy to build and still give an acceptable profit. But X7s shoot about an inch at 100 yds too. :)

I just got one of these from Cabela's a few days ago, and mounted it to my .30-06 XL7. I haven't had the chance to get to the range yet, but just eyeballing things out around my neighborhood, this really does seem like a fantastic scope, especially for the price.

I have 3 different "X" guns and I have the following scopes on them.

Bushnell Trophy XLT 3-9x40 with the 600 DOA recticle

Simmons Master Series 3-9x40 Pro-Hunter

Simmons Master Series 3-10x44 Pro-Hunter

They are all very good scopes and don't cost a futune. The Bushnell with the DOA recticle is very accurate and calibrated correctly. It would be alot of help in making those longer shots Texas can offer.

I went with the Vortex Crossfire 1" tube 6x-24 50mm mildot because I got it for $100.
So far it is fantastic. The XL7 25-06 will be the Varmint gun for groundhogs and coyotes.
