I'm new to the rifle/scope world and was wondering about scope bases. For a bolt action rifle (say the XL7) is there any substantial benefit/difference between one- and two-piece scope bases? More accurate? More stable? Thanks!

One piece is more rigid, but weighs more and the two piece is the exact opposite lighter and less rigid. Hope this helps.

Most one piece bases attach to the rifle with only 3 screws whereas a two pice uses 2 screws for each base. I think the 2 piece are stronger.

I like a two piece base better. In my opinion the one piece base extending over the loading/ejection port makes it a little harder to load the shells from the top. With a 2 Piece you don't have the base in the way of loading.
