OK, there is the answer from the Expert. Thanks Tomray. My stainless 1894SS was made around 2008 and has a wood stock without the bullseye. The wood is slightly lighter in color than my other Marlin (an older Guide Gun) but I am assuming it is also walnut. I guess it must be one of the "cost savings" guns. I still love the gun and it shoots well. But I was always curious about the missing bullseye.Tomray said:Rowdy,
You are correct. Only Walnut stocks will have the Bullseye............Asthough, there was a period of time in 2008 that the bullseye was removed from the walnut stocks also..............That was an attempt to "Save Money" by one small group of people that were looking only at the bottonm line.........That was corrected by Tommy Milner when he was CEO............

Don't give them any ideas.eaglesnest said:I wonder when Remington will decide to save money and lose the bullseye? ??? :![]()
