I was in one of the local stores today and there was a new 45-70 big loop on the rack. The guy handed it over and I took a look. Remington stamp on the barrel with an action that felt like a bumper jack, but pretty wood. The owner of the shop told me they were having a lot of problems with customer complaints about the new Marlington actions. I could see why. The price was a little north of $600, but not much.

It really wanted to follow me home, but I made it go back and sit on the shelf.

I have been searching for a 336BL to go with my 1895ABL. I am worried that if I find a new one from Ilion it will suck.

Hope to find a pre Ilion somewhere...no luck so far.

At least for now when looking to buy marlins, I've forbid myself from buying any of the new ones. Don't want the nightmares other folks here have told us about on these forums. The "good" ones made before Cerberus Capital Management got involved in the mix are the only ones I want.
