In 1964 Savage Arms entered into an agreement with J. G. Anschutz GmbH (Germany) whereby Savage Arms would market Anschutz manufactured rifles in the U.S. and Anschutz would market Savage manufactured rifles in Europe. The Anschutz rifles sold by Savage were marked Savage-Anschutz, and the Savage rifles sold by Anschutz were marked Anschutz-Savage.
Here is the 1964 announcement and a picture of my Savage-Anschutz 54 Sporter; it’s a shooter.

I have a savage/Anschutz 141m. Got it back in the 70’s. Mines a shooter also. Wish they still sold them.
