I picked up a project in September. It is a .243. It functioned well but had a hitch in the action. Cosmetically not pleasing.
Minor pitting / scratches in the receiver. The wood was beat up and stained.
My problem is I cannot get the receiver to take blueing with out splotching to a cloudy brown and black. I've re-done several guns in the past using Oxpho Blue and Casey's paste. Just can't seem to get this one right. The barrel turned out good. Any suggestions?
This gun is for my girl friend to use when we go hunting. I shot a doe with it last year in November.
