I've wanted one for a long time. The last one I took a serious look at was a year or ago. Watched it for 4or5 days and the last day a new bidder IA1727 shows up. His bid was about where I was prepared to stop, so I let Steve win it. The first one I saw was at the Cedar Rapids gun show about 10 years ago, it had a set of left handed target grips with a thumb rest, seller wanted $400. I passed at that time. the next show a week later in Marchaltown it had a set of PM rubber grips on it and he wanted $450. Passed again. Well I got one now. I didn't see any need to drive the price up past my limit. I knew another would come along. I really forgot about it until all these 44-40 poastings and thought I haven't checked in a while, and one was there with a buy now of $750 their $ are not going down any . I thought now or never . Have you shot yours enough to know they shoot.WW

I know . I have one in 44-40 & 38-40 If you don't count the 4000 that were sent to the Brit's they only made 3432 of each that were sold. Both of mine have worts but are very good inside. I need to see how they shoot . WW

I haven't seen one under $1000 since I've been interested.
It looks like I've got about $1600 in the pair. Outside of some pitting on the 38-40 receiver about the size of a dime and a deep spot on the barrel of the 44-40 just ahead or the receiver they are in good condition. It looks like water dripped on one and splashed on the other. WW

You did really, really well. The last one in 44-40 I saw was pretty tired and neglected, and they want $1250 for it.

The 544 come in today, pretty much as pictured . There is a small scratch on the trigger guard and a small chip in the varnish next to the guard. Doesn't look to have ben fired. Cylinder throats measure .427 don't know about the bore could never figure how to measure 5 gruve rifeling. WW
