Gunfight Rules

In a gunfight, the most important rule is ..... HAVE A GUN!

The following is advice compiled from various Concealed Carry Instructors. If you own a firearm, especially if you daily carry a firearm, you will appreciate these rules. If not, you should invest in one and learn how to use it but know in advance that you should follow the rules.

RULES:

-- Guns have only two enemies: rust and politicians.

-- It's always better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6.

-- LEOs carry guns to protect themselves ... not you. By the time they arrive it is usually too late for you and yours.

-- Never let someone, or something, that threatens your family or you get inside an arm's length.

-- Never say "I've got a gun," when an attacker is already advancing towards you. If you need to use deadly force, the first sounds they hear should be the safety clicking off and the hammer being cocked ... and do it quickly. It takes less than 3 seconds for an attacker to advance to you from 21 feet. Less if the attacker is also armed with a firearm.

-- The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes; the response time of a 45 ACP is 1000 feet per second.

-- The most important rule in a gunfight is: ALWAYS win. A gunfight is a deadly struggle. There is no such thing as a fair fight - cheat if necessary. Criminals are, by nature, sociopathic. They will feel no empathy towards you - you should force yourself to feel the same towards your attacker. Put them down.

-- Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets. You may be killed with your own gun, but he'll have to beat you to death with it, 'cause it will be empty.

-- If you're in a gun fight: If you're not shooting, you should be loading. If you're not loading, you should be moving. If you're not moving, you're dead.

-- In a life and death situation, do something. It may be wrong, but do something! Freezing-up will get you killed. Practice against the potential scenarios, then practice some more.

-- If you carry a gun people may call you paranoid, and that's nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about? More apropos, you are prepared.

-- You may yell 'STOP, HALT,' or any other words, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's center-mass is a universal language that requires no explanation.

-- Never give an enemy an ounce of mercy and expect none in return. Shoot until he is down and immobile. If you have to shoot, make it count. If you end-up in court, and yours is the only testimony, sobeit.

-- A firearm on your side does not make you tougher, more important or even bulletproof. It is a tool, an instrument, that gives you a fighting chance against a violent attacker or intruder. Learn to use it properly and only when necessary and make sure, most importantly of all, that you are well practiced and proficient with it should the need ever arise for you to put it to use for it's designed and intended purpose.

Jesus, one of the most non violent figures in human history said:

If you do not have a sword, sell your cloak, and buy a sword. For it is more important to be safe, than comfortable.

I am blessed, for I have a box of swords, and several cloaks
