Few things.
Lubrication. Use a quality lube like break free CLP, Rand CLP or frog lube. This is not the time for WD40 or remoil.

Use quality self defense ammo like Hornady critical defense. Cheap ammo jambs in small lightweight guns.

Grip the gun tightly and lean into it. Don't limp wrist it or lightly grip it. The gun has to have something solid to recoil and reciprocate against.

Those are the biggies. If they don't work you might consider it's something mechanical and in that case Ruger will make it right.

Need to now if its a stove pipe. Or jamming going in the chamber. Stove pipe means it the ejecter. Going in the chamber could be mag problems or some chamber work needed. If you got it used it could be week spring. I would contact ruger myself and send it to them to make it right. if you just bought it.

Check to see that your wife is holding the auto firmly and not as the term is called shooting with a "limp wrist". This can cause a jam on ejection as well as chambering a round.
