I have one and love the rifle. I compared it to a 30-30 336 and both a stainless and blued versions of the Marlin in 45-70 when I bought mine at Bud's. I went with the Rossi due to fit and finish on it as well as smoothness of he action. Once I striped it to clean I was amazed how clean the machine work internally was with only one small burr found inside which removed in about a minute of polishing. Only other complaints I have are the loading gate was real stiff but did get it to smooth out after loading and shooting a few times. Lastly is I wanted to change the magazine follower to metal instead of the plastic and bought a marlin one in 45-70, discovering they aren't the same so it wouldn't work. I did have a friend modify it by opening the follower up to take the larger magazine spring in the Rossi and shorten the section the spring goes into. I've since sent the plastic follower to someone that might produce then if there is enough demand and this is listed at Ranch Dog's forum.
