I had a coworker ask me about a rifle he was having a problem with. He described it as an old 30-30 sold by western auto, and said he wanted to mount a scope on it. Through asking a few questions I found out it was probably a marlin, and that it was drilled and tapped for a scope mount on top of the receiver. I told him that a scope base for a marlin 336 should work.
He brought me the rifle, it is a revelation 205, made by Mossberg for western auto. A one piece scope rail for a 336 will work, the holes line up perfectly, however, the screw holes in the receiver are smaller than the screws on a marlin.
Does anyone know what screw size this rifle takes. With the right screws, provided they have tapered heads, the 336 base will work.
