I'm sorry to keep bothering you fellas, but I'm having a devil of a time removing the forestock on my 336RC. Yesterday I couldn't get the small bolt out. Finally got that out, but now I can't get the forestock off. I've pulled on it, tapped (very lightly) on it, and it just seems frozen in place. I don't want to get too rough with it cause I don't want to screw up the wood. Does it just slide off, or is there another bolt seomewhere that holds it in? Appreciate your help. Ron

Remove the tube magazine. Then your forestock will come off. Swany

Thanks swany. I'm still waiting on the owners manual I ordered from Marlin. Can you help me out a little more and tell me how to remove the tube magazine? Thanks.

The magazine is held in place by the barrel bands, as I remember it is not threaded. You simply remove the barrel bands, the fore stock and the magazine should separate from the receiver with minimal effort.
