Does anyone know how the new lever guns are being checkered at the factory? If you have seen one up close they are really strange. It is not pressed checkering, since the borders are nice and sharp, but the diamonds are sort of flat, and not well defined. It is almost like they are cut with a dull rotary tool of some sort. The first ones I saw I thought that was the case, but they all seem to be that way. Anybody have the scoop?

I think they are checkered by laser.

The checkering on my laminate stock 336W is pressed. On the walnut stocked models, it's my understanding that it is cut by laser.

I saw one at Walmart yesterday, the first one I've seen there in quite a while, by the way. The checkering on that one looked like it was done with a printer :ahhhhh:

Mine looks like it was done with a laser, not bad, looks pretty good.
